Removing Discovery Studio
This topic provides instructions to remove a Discovery Studio
installation on:
- Windows systems
- Linux systems
Windows systems
To remove Discovery Studio from a Windows
system
Note. The Discovery
Studio uninstall wizard must be run from the original distribution
media, not from any other copy of the distributed content.
You must have Administrator privileges to modify the
installation on Windows systems.
- Uninstallation of Discovery Studio may require that your
machine be restarted.
- Cancel any server jobs that are running, either locally or that
have been started on servers remote from the Discovery Studio
client that you may be uninstalling.
- Close Discovery Studio.
- On the Windows Start menu, select
Settings | Control
Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
- Select Accelrys Discovery Studio 1.6
from the list of programs and then click the Remove button.
- You will be prompted to confirm that you really want to remove Discovery
Studio from your computer. Click Yes to
continue.
- Discovery Studio will be removed from your computer.
- Discovery Studio stores information related to your operation
of the program to disk, so that preferences and window layouts (for
example) are maintained between sessions. To remove this information.
delete
the following folder and its sub-folders:
C:\Documents and
Settings\<username>\Application Data\Accelrys\Discovery
Studio\1.6
- If a system restart is required, you are prompted at the end of
the process. The uninstallation is not fully completed until you
have restarted your system.
- If a LicensePack was installed as a part of this installation, it should be removed separately if no other Accelrys installations depend on it.

Linux systems
Note. To remove the
Discovery Studio installation, you must have appropriate privileges
to delete the installation files and run the uninstaller.
To remove Discovery Studio from a Linux
system
- Log into the account which was originally used to install
Discovery Studio.
- Ensure that all server jobs running under this installation are
stopped.
- Locate the Uninstaller directory:
> <pathway>/Uninstaller/
- Execute the uninstaller:
> ./<pathway>/Uninstaller/uninstaller.sh
- The uninstall wizard opens to the Welcome screen. Click the
Next button.
- The summary of your Discovery Studio installation is displayed.
To uninstall the summarized components, click the Uninstall button.
- The uninstallation process begins. When it has completed, the
installer closes. The files associated with the Discovery Studio
installation are removed.
- Discovery Studio stores information related to your operation
of the application to disk, so that preferences and window layouts (for
example) are maintained between sessions. To remove this information. delete
the following folder and its sub-folders:
$HOME/.Accelrys/Discovery Studio/1.6
where $HOME
is your home directory. (Note that
there is a space between Discovery and Studio on Linux systems.)
- If a LicensePack was installed as a part of this installation, it should be removed separately if no other Accelrys installations depend on it.
